Updated Text: We had Zahir for sale, however, as we have had him on our farm the last six months, we have decided to give him away free as a companion or lead line only horse. This decision is based on the fact that he stumbles when under saddle while loping and has tripped twice with a rider on his back while loping. Does just fine at a walk, however he is arthritic, and when moving fast, we think he is uncomfortable. He moves just fine and is currently not on any supplements. He is also partially blind in his left eye, can see some, but not 100%. We have never had a vet check done on this horse, but, with the blindness and his stumbling when loping under saddle, we don't feel like he is safe as a true riding horse. Would be fine for leading someone around briefly, but not any serious type of riding. He is such a sweet horse that loves attention, and would make an excellent buddy horse or a pet. The text below is older...but I left it there so you could see what he is all about....prior to our decision to make him a companion only horse.
This love bug "in your pocket type of" horse is so ready to find his forever home where he can be utilized and enjoyed! Zahir, as he is called, is the type of horse that loves affection, prefers people attention over other horse attention, and has been there done that. Loves to be groomed, loves to be spoiled, loves to give his owner attention. If you are looking for a pet, Zahir is the perfect horse. A very bonding animal.
He is the same horse today as he would be if you turned him out to pasture and brought him up for a ride a month later. Easy to tack up, stands quietly for the farrier, good for a bath and so much fun to ride. Great camper, stays in electric fence. Eats and drinks well over night. Loves the trail and is calm as a kitten in an arena!
He would make an excellent trail or pleasure riding horse, and has some show experience. Not an ultimate beginners horse, but good for someone who knows the basics.
We are selling this horse as a walk only horse. We have never had him vetted, however he seems to be a little bit arthritic and benefits from joint suppliments which he has been off of for the last 4 months so that buyers can see him as he is. He shows no lameness and moves wonderful in the pasture, but a person can just tell that he is not as smooth moving in the joints. Yes, a person can trot on him and yes, he can lope, however, we want him to go to a walking home only or as a companion horse. He would be GREAT for someone who wanted to let their grand kids be led around on him, or for someone who just wanted to piddle around the farm at a walk. We have taken him out on the trail and he is nice on the trail, however, a rough terrain trail would not be in his best interest. In an arena, he is somewhat lazy, very quiet, very laid back, would be good for someone to walk around on, maybe even a lesson horse for walk only as he knows all the cues, listens well, and tolerates a lot. Our ultimate goal here is a forever home where he will be well taken care of, and someone can enjoy his super affectionate personality.
Gets along well with other horses, currently being ridden twice a week, and only being sold because his owner is an endurance rider, and this horse cannot do endurance. He is a true favorite by others who have ridden him and mostly he has bee super praised for his excellent ground manners and his love of attention by people.
If someone wants the good disposition on a horse that will take good care of them....and just wants a horse they can piddle down the level trail on or play in the arena at a walk...this is a great horse for that.
